Dr. Tinnirello’s Life Changing Story

Dr. Pietro Tinnirello decided to pursue a career in Chiropractic in 2007 when he saw the power of what an adjustment could do to a patient. Following is his story.

While working as a Chiropractic Assistant at Hayes Chiropractic in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a young woman brought in her one-year-old daughter to see the Chiropractor and said that she was not seeing any improvement in the health of her daughter, who was diagnosed with a condition known as Congenital Torticollis. This condition readily occurs during birth trauma and causes shortening of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Shortening of this muscle causes the patient’s head to tilt to one side which can indirectly cause ear infections, projectile vomiting, facial asymmetry and a number of other symptoms.

A physician the young woman was seeing before deciding to see a Chiropractor recommended the child undergo surgery to correct the problem. The mother was confused and her daughter’s condition was worsening by the day since she was unable to retain any liquids or foods due to the constant projectile vomiting. The child was notably malnourished and not in optimal health status. The Chiropractor was horrified and stated that there was an alternative and more conservative approach to correcting the condition. The mother was relieved and tears were streaming down her face. He noted that the child would need to come in for a few sessions and that it would consist of an adjustment to the cervical and upper thoracic spine. He then suggested applying heat with specific exercises to lengthen the muscles that have been shortened from birth trauma along with home exercises which he demonstrated to the mother.

Dr. Tinnirello remembered as if it were yesterday after just the third visit the mother walked in with a smile embracing the doctor thanking him and letting him know that her daughter was able to finally have a restful night of sleep and also eat without having the urge to vomit. Since that time, Dr. Tinnirello never looked back and has helped many people the same way without the use
of drugs or surgery.

Many times people want a quick fix and the body unfortunately does not function in that manner. Aspirin or other prescriptions drugs may temporarily relieve someone’s pain but is not solving the underlying root of the problem. As Chiropractors we believe the body needs to heal which begins with the nervous system, providing nourishment and proper blood flow to all the vital organs in the body.
